The Grand Forks Police Department is warning the public that a high risk sex offender has moved into the city.

Travis Lee Robinson, 27, will live at the Northlands Rescue Mission on 420 Division Ave. He was recently released from the James River Correctional Facility in Jamestown, N.D., and remains under the supervision of the state Department of Corrections.

Robinson raped a girl multiple times over the course of three years and was convicted of gross sexual imposition in 2006, according to a police news release. The girl was 10 at the onset of the crimes.

During the investigation, child pornography was found on a computer Robinson and his roommate shared. Later, he had his probation revoked. Robinson is a Level III offender with a lifetime registration requirement in North Dakota.

There are 86 registered sex offenders living in Grand Forks and eight are considered high risk. The rest are low or medium risk.
