Authorities are warning the public about a man dressed in a bunny suit asking children if they want to go in his van and pet a rabbit.

The Grand Forks Police Department learned about the bizarre situation Wednesday night. It happened in the 800 block of 43rd Street.

After the man approached the children and asked if they wanted to get in his van, the children left and told their parents, according to a news release.

The van apparently is a red and silver conversion van. On the back window is a sticker of a bunny, according to police. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s with hazel eyes. He was wearing a white bunny costume complete with bunny ears, police said.

Police searched the area, but weren't able to find anyone matching the description. Anyone with information on the incident or man are encouraged to call the police.
