Grand Forks police are asking for help finding a man who failed to register as an offender against children.

Charles Murray Rodriguez, 30, was last seen March 6 when he was released from the Cass County Jail, a Facebook post from the police department said. Rodriguez said he would be coming to Grand Forks, but failed to register with the police, the post said.

Rodriguez was convicted of child abuse or neglect in 2008 and was sentenced to serve seven years in prison . A news report from the time said Rodriguez was arrested after he was unable to explain significant injuries to his 7-week-old son. The baby reportedly had eight broken ribs and a skull fracture. Rodriguez told police he squeezed his son hard enough to break his ribs on three different occasions and dropped him on the kitchen floor two days before taking him to a walk-in clinic, the story said.

Rodriguez has pleaded guilty for failure to register as an offender against children two other times. Police said a complaint has been filed against him for his inaction in Grand Forks.

Anyone with information is urged to call (701) 787-8000.
