Grand Forks native Mike Peterson is running to represent District 42 in the North Dakota House, he announced today.

Peterson, a 2003 graduate of Red River High School, owns After 5, an alternative newspaper in Grand Forks.

He is seeking the Republican Party's nomination to run for a spot on the House from District 42, which includes the UND campus and surrounding neighborhoods. The district's two incumbent representatives are Republican Stacey Dahl and Democrat Corey Mock.

Grand Forks Republicans will hold their district endorsing conventions at 7 p.m. Thursday at the GuestHouse Inn, 710 First Ave. N.

In his campaign brochure, Peterson wrote that he would oppose tax increases and work to slow the state's spending growth while focusing on conservative priorities.
