A Grand Forks man has pleaded guilty on charges of gross sexual imposition after he allegedly molested a 6-year-old girl, according to court records.
Michael Joseph Pinon, 32, pleaded guilty in district court in Grand Forks Thursday for two counts of gross sexual imposition, each a class AA felony. His sentencing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Oct. 7.
According to court documents, Pinon reportedly admitted to the girls' mother in a recorded phone conversation in early February that he molested her 6-year-old daughter at her Grand Forks apartment.
He reportedly apologized to the girl's mother, calling it a "misunderstanding," according to the documents.
A few weeks later, the 6-year-old girl reportedly told a social worker how Pinon molested her more than once and she reportedly told a doctor the same thing in a second interview the following day.

Pinon could face a maximum of life in prison without parole.
