A Grand Forks man will spend seven months behind bars after changing his pleas for selling cocaine.
Mohamed Omar Sharif, 23, entered guilty pleas Thursday for delivery of a controlled substance and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. The charges stem from different incidents.
On Aug. 13, Sharif sold a gram of cocaine to a confidential informant in a parking lot at 3425 S. 10th St.
A probation officer checked on Sharif's apartment on Aug. 15 and found drugs and a large amount of cash. Court records said there was cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone pills, marijuana wax, paraphernalia and khat, which is an illegal plant-based stimulant. There was over $3,000 cash, an affidavit for his arrest said. Sharif initially faced three felony charges and a misdemeanor.
As part of a plea deal, he was only charged for delivery of a controlled substance and possession with intent. Each charge held a maximum penalty of 10 years behind bars.
