A Grand Forks man accused of terrorizing apartment residents as he held a gun last fall has been ordered to spend two years behind bars.
Travis Andrew Preble, 32, pleaded guilty Monday in Grand Forks District Court to terrorizing against an adult, a Class C felony. In exchange for a plea deal, a Class B misdemeanor charge of possessing marijuana was dismissed.
The charges stem from a Sept. 10 incident in the 3600 block of Landeco Lane in Grand Forks. Court documents detail claims that Preble was harassing a woman for months. The two lived in the same apartment complex but separate units.
On the night of the incident, Preble knocked on the woman's door, and when the victim's boyfriend told Preble to leave, the defendant said he would kill them both, according to court documents.
The couple told police they saw Preble pacing the apartment hallway while holding a rifle.

Preble had faced up to five years in prison on the Class C felony charge, but the plea deal called for three years of that sentence to be suspended for three years. He also will be given seven days' credit for time served.
