A Grand Forks man accused of causing a fatal accident on U.S. Highway 2 near Fisher, Minn., pleaded not guilty Wednesday in State District Court in Crookston.

A Grand Forks man accused of causing a fatal accident on U.S. Highway 2 near Fisher, Minn., pleaded not guilty Wednesday in State District Court in Crookston.

Daniel Dean Johnson, 21, is facing a single count of criminal vehicular homicide in the Feb. 3 vehicle death of Darcy Jablonski west of Fisher, Minn.

The state is charging that Johnson's blood alcohol level was at or above the legal limit of .08 at the time of the accident.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that at 2:16 a.m. Feb. 3, a 2005 Pontiac G6 driven by Jablonski collided with Johnson's 1994 Ford extended cab pickup, which was stopped facing west, the wrong way, in the eastbound lane.

Fog limited the visibility at the time of the accident.

According to the Polk County State's Attorney's office, Johnson was released on his own personal recognizance due to injuries sustained in the accident and his need for ongoing medical attention.

Jablonski, who was from Crookston, was 39 at the time of her death.

Johnson's trial has been scheduled for June 19.

The felony charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
