KATHRYN, N.D. -- A Grand Forks man was clocked driving 103 mph and cited for an open container when state troopers arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving Tuesday night in Barnes County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Thomas Wentz, 51, has been charged with driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, both misdemeanors. He was also issued a citation for speeding and having an open container, according to the Patrol.

The Highway Patrol received a call about a reckless driver at 6:54 p.m. Tuesday heading west on N.D. Highway 46. A trooper clocked Wentz’s Honda SUV traveling at 103 mph, the Patrol said. Wentz was pulled over just south of Kathryn, N.D.

His initial court appearance is scheduled for June 6.
