The city of Grand Forks has canceled its bid request for an evaluation of the Grand Forks Public Library.

The request for architectural services was sent out Monday and canceled Wednesday. City Administrator Todd Feland said he canceled the request because he wanted to further discuss the ideas that City Council, Library Board and Grand Forks County Commission members have for the library project.

“I was moving the project forward maybe a little faster than some people were ready for,” he said.

There will still be an architectural evaluation of the library before decisions are made on a new building, he said, but he’s not sure when that will happen. Before that, representatives from the city, library and county will meet, he said.
