The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to a fire Friday afternoon at a private daycare provider at 1005 S. 11th St.

Battalion Chief Rob Corbett said some clothes started on fire in a dryer, and were put out shortly after the department arrived at about 2:40 p.m.

The five children at the daycare were safely removed to a neighbor's home before the fire department arrived and there were three cats found in the house.

Corbett reported there was smoke damage to the home and estimated at $3,000 to $5,000.
