The Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation has received a $54,350 grant to complete an extensive study and assessment of agri-business opportunities within Grand Forks, Nelson, Traill and Walsh counties.
It was one of four grants totaling $145,350 announced Friday by the North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission, which made the awards. The APUC is a part of the Department of Commerce.
"The agri-business sector is one of the Grand Forks Region EDC's areas of focus," said President and CEO Klaus Thiessen. "The study we'll be undertaking will provide critical information we can use to identify and capitalize on agri-business opportunities."
The project, initiated by the EDC's agri-business roundtable, will provide an inventory of assets and resources, identify strengths and challenges facing regional agri-business, and develop a regional strategy.
The other grant announced Friday include $45,000 to Destiny Dairy in Stanton, Warp Speed Torque Drive in West Fargo and NSB Valhalla in Des Lacs.
