The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office didn't see any major increases in crimes in 2014, but there was an increase in driving citations, according to a year-end report released Tuesday.
The report documented larceny/theft as the crime with the highest increase of cases, with 111 cases in 2014, up from 84 in 2013.
The second-highest increase was in drug/narcotic cases, with 118 in 2014, up from 95 in 2013, according to the report.
The drug/narcotic category had the highest number of offenses in 2014.
Many types of crimes decreased in 2014, including:

• 75 assaults, compared to 77 in 2013
• 22 fraud cases, compared to 30 in 2013
• 29 burglaries or breaking and entering cases, compared to 36 in 2013
• 42 reported domestic abuse cases, compared to 66 in 2013
Officers issued many more citations in 2014 compared to 2013, including:
• 128 for driving under the influence, compared to 87 in 2013
• 31 for open container, compared to 19 in 2013
• 787 speeding tickets, compared to 688 in 2013

• 142 for not wearing a seat belt, compared to 61 in 2013
The number of car accidents in Grand Forks County was down in 2014, at 109 compared to 147 in 2013.
