The polls in Grand Forks County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today for a special election.
County commissioners are asking voters to approve the issuing of $1.7 million worth of general obligation bonds to fund the renovation of the former jail building so it can be used to house the 911 call-in center.
That will give the Public Safety Answering Point, now located in the law enforcement center, more room to handle emergency calls for the county Sheriff's Department, the city police and UND police, county officials say.
There will be one polling site in each of the county's 10 cities, including the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. Approval requires a 60 percent majority.
The date of the election published in an article on page 1A Tuesday was wrong.
