Members of a Grand Forks area tea party group recently voted to support giving Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., a national "Person of the Year" award.

The executive committee of the Valley Tea Party Conservative Coalition approved a resolution Sunday in support of giving Bachmann, a Republican presidential candidate, the award.

In a news release today, the group praised Bachmann for "her effective and unflagging support of the Tea Party movement in Congress, her courage and her unyielding patriotism and love of country."

The resolution follows a similar act of support of the award by the Grand Forks Chapter of the North Dakota Tea Party Caucus on Nov. 30.

The award will be presented to Bachmann before the Republican presidential debate in Sioux City, Iowa, later this month.
