Temporary traffic signals are now operational at the intersection of South Washington Street and 40th Avenue South in Grand Forks, the city said Thursday.
The temporary signals will be in place until permanent signals are installed in about 18 months.
City leaders pushed for quick activation of the traffic signals after an accident at the intersection injured three in November. With Choice Health & Fitness opening in the area, officials said there's more traffic at the intersection, which had not had traffic lights until now. They reported numerous complaints from drivers.
