An 18-year-old Glyndon, Minn., man faces felony assault charges, accused of beating his father with an ax handle while his father slept.
Bryce Leon Reyes faces two second-degree assault charges and a count each of third-degree assault, first-degree damage to property and domestic assault.
According to a complaint filed on Thursday in Clay County District Court, the father and son argued on Wednesday after Reyes' dad told him he had to move out of the apartment where they both lived.
The 40-year-old father, who isn't named in court records, told police he went to bed and was awoken by his son beating him in the head, arms and back with an ax handle. He had a deep cut on the top of his head that required staples to seal and a large lump on one of his wrists.
Glyndon police said they found blood splattered in the bedroom on the sheets, pillows, walls and ceiling, as well as drops throughout other rooms in the home.

Reyes is also accused of striking a fish tank after allegedly beating up his dad, destroying the tank.
He was arrested in Fargo after the alleged assault and is being held in the Cass County Jail. He's set to appear in court today for an extradition hearing.
After his arrest, Reyes told cops he and his father had been drinking together and were fighting when he hit his dad in self-defense.
He claimed his father hit him in the face with brass knuckles, but police said in court records they did not see any brass knuckles in the apartment.
