While Valentine's Day is an opportunity to say, "I love you," to family and friends, Dakota Medical Foundation says Giving Hearts Day provides the chance to say, "I care," to needy strangers.
DMF has selected Northlands Rescue Mission in Grand Forks, Harvest Health in Grand Forks, First Care Health Center in Park River, N.D., Hillsboro Medical Foundation in Hillsboro, N.D., and RiverView Health in Crookston as participants in the 2010 Giving Hearts Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event Thursday.
DMF will match donor online contributions of $10 or more made to the selected organizations, up to $4,000. Participants must raise a minimum of $2,500 to be eligible for the matching funds. Incentive awards of $1,500 to $20,000 will be given to the seven nonprofits that receive the most donations.
All money raised on Giving Hearts Day goes directly to the participating nonprofits and charitable funds. To make a secure online contribution to Northlands Rescue Mission and have it matched, simply go to www.impactgiveback.org on Thursday and click on the Giving Hearts Day "Learn More/Donate" button. All donations are tax-deductible.
