Police said a 16-year-old used a knife to cut a 19-year-old during a confrontation Wednesday night outside a Grand Forks fast-food restaurant.

Lt. Grant Schiller said the two teens, who are both males from Grand Forks, had agreed to meet to fight near the Burger King at 3765 Gateway Drive.

Schiller said the 16-year-old pulled two knives during the encounter, and the 19-year-old, Dallas Larson, fled but not before receiving a quarter-sized laceration on his back. Larson was also bleeding from his cheek and chin, Schiller said.

Police were called at about 9:30 p.m., and officers interviewed several young people who witnessed the incident, Schiller said.

The 16-year-old, who police did not identify because of his age, was arrested later that night during a traffic stop on the 3800 block of 24th Avenue South.

He was taken to juvenile detention and is expected to be charged with aggravated assault, terrorizing, underage drinking and resisting arrest.

Larson was treated at Altru Hospital for his injuries. The 16-year-old was also taken to the hospital for an injury to his foot.
