Grand Forks police are seeking information about a dog that apparently bit an 18-year-old male Friday evening.

The man was riding his bicycle west on the 500 block of 13th Avenue South about 7 p.m. when a dog apparently lunged at him, biting him in the thigh. The woman walking the dog on a leash was described as about 60 years old with gray hair.

The man realized when he reached home that his thigh had swelling and broken skin from the bite.

Police are asking that the dog's owner provide vaccination information so the bicyclist doesn't need to undergo further medical testing or receive treatment such as a rabies shot. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 787-8000.
