GF Flamez finish second at Pacesetter

The Grand Forks Flamez finished second at the Pacesetter ND Youth Basketball State Championship held at The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center April 10th.

The Grand Forks Flamez finished second at the Pacesetter ND Youth Basketball State Championship held at The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center April 10th.

The Flamez finished 2-1-1 in pool play by beating Midway and Devils Lake, tying Fargo Sullivan and losing to Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah.

The Flamez had a first round bye in the tournament before beating Devils Lake in the semifinals. The Flamez lost to Fargo Sullivan in the championship game.

The champion and runner-up from the North Dakota state tournament will be invited to play in the Great Four-State Tournament at the Target Center in Minneapolis in July competing against the top teams from Iowa, South Dakota, and Minnesota.

Team members include Kaija Jensen, Brianna Schumacher, Elli Strand, Mari Rustebakke, Maddie Fultz, Brynn Bohan, Stephanie McWilliams, Hannah Arason and Katelyn Klefstad.
