As the nation nervously watches the free fall on Wall Street, local residents can't help but smile at the dipping price at the gas pump.
Most service stations in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks were selling regular unleaded at $2.90 a gallon Friday.
"I don't have any stocks or finances," said motorist Lora Strobeen, Grand Forks. "Just this little bit on gas helps."
"Good deal. Great," echoed Judy Schroeder, Grand Forks. "I hope it stays below $3."
Nationally, gas prices averaged $3.35 a gallon Friday.
