Valentine's Day is a week away, which should give you just enough time to plan your wedding.

The Twelve Houses, a spiritual center and store in downtown Grand Forks, is offering $50 wedding ceremonies Feb. 14.

The Rev. Rob Howard will officiate the nondenominational ceremonies from noon to 4 p.m. at The Twelve Houses.

His wife, Lisa Howard, co-owns the store with her partner, Leslie Armstrong.

"He is a romantic," Lisa Howard said of her husband. "He loves Valentine's Day, and he thought it'd be neat to offer something for people ... so they can say they got married on Valentine's Day."

Couples planning to tie the knot at The Twelve Houses can start by calling either Rob Howard at (701) 330-0785 or The Twelve Houses at (701) 757-2025 to book a time. Next, the couples need to go to the Grand Forks County Office building to get a marriage license by Feb. 12, since the office will be closed over the weekend.

"After that, all I'll need is the bride, groom and two witnesses," said Rob Howard. Witnesses can be arranged if the couple mentions the need when they book a time. The simple ceremonies will be held at The Twelve Houses at 216 S. Third St.

"There's been interest," said Rob Howard. "But at the moment, the entire day is open."

It's important to The Twelve Houses to be low-key and nontraditional, Lisa Howard said. She describes the store as an "all-encompassing spiritual center" that promotes alternative energy and healing and holistic medicine.

The store's goal is to connect and empower people who might not have a spiritual home, she said. "It's about peace and love," she said.

"That's what the whole store is founded on."
