Twenty-one soldiers assigned to the Grand Forks-based 132nd Quartermaster Company and 119 soldiers in the Minot-based 164th Engineer Battalion have been notified of a possible mobilization in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Twenty-one soldiers assigned to the Grand Forks-based 132nd Quartermaster Company and 119 soldiers in the Minot-based 164th Engineer Battalion have been notified of a possible mobilization in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The 132nd originally was called to federal service in the early days of the war and served for 90 days at Ft. Lewis, Wash., before being demobilized in May 2003. The unit has a "tremendous track record of service to North Dakota and now that service will stretch around the world," said Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, state National Guard Adjutant General.

Parts of the 164th already have been involved in the war; Company A recently returned from Iraq.

If mobilized, under the current rotation policies for Operation Iraqi Freedom, the soldiers would serve up to 545 days which would include time spent at the mobilization station.

The mobilization date, mobilization station and mission have not been announced.
