Some Grand Forks stations began posting $3 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline Wednesday afternoon.
North Dakota joined 11 other states Wednesday in charging an average of $3 a gallon, ac-cording to AAA. Several Grand Forks stations were at $2.99 on Wednesday, while others were still at $2.89 a gallon. The last time the North Dakota average price was at that level was Oct. 15, 2008. A year ago, the figure stood at $2.08 statewide, $2.07 in Grand Forks.
Nationally, the average Wednesday was just under $2.92 per gallon. Minnesota's average was at $2.89 Wednesday.
The average price for diesel fuel in North Dakota is $3.18, compared with $2.22 a year ago. Grand Forks stations are charging an average of $3.16 a gallon, 97 cents more than a year ago.
Bismarck stations post an average of $3.03 for unleaded at www.fuelgaugereport.com . Fargo lists $2.87. Motorists there were paying $1.98 a year ago.
