"I heard all the sirens and I didnt know what was going on. And I thought it was the other apartment building but here I see it was our garage on fire,” said complex resident, Kimberly York.
For residents like Kimberly York, it was a frightening afternoon at their complex on Landeco Lane in Grand Forks.
"I was in bed sleeping and all of a sudden I heard these sirens and I was like "what the heck is going on?" said York.
Firefighters responded to calls of a garage fire at the complex around 1pm.

"We had a fire in the middle stall, it's a 10-stall garage, and we had a fire about in the middle of it,” said Grand Forks Fire Department Batt. Chief Mike Sandry.
The blaze completely destroyed one stall which was loaded with furniture and other household items.
"There is heavy damage in the one, some lighter damage on the ones to the sides of it, and a lot of smoke in the other ones which is why we opened up the doors,” said Sandry.
It took firefighters 15 minutes to get the flames under control. Crews are still estimating the total damage, but miraculously, no cars were harmed.

"Thank God we don't have a garage because it was scary when I found out about it,” said Sandry.
