Cool, wet weather and a monkey wrench in a fryer kept any records from being set Thursday evening at the Potato Bowl's "World's Largest French Fry Feed" in University Park, where thousands turned out.

"We had a little drizzle coming, and combined with a little mechanical issue on the dryer, we did not break the record," said Scott Lund of J.R. Simplot Co., which supplies all the spuds for the event.

The volunteers fried 4,110 pounds of french fries. The record of 4,890 pounds was set in 2008, Lund said.
