WILLISTON, N.D. -- About 690 barrels of freshwater leaked from an Oasis Petroleum well eight miles north of Williston, the North Dakota Department of Health reported Thursday.
A leaking pipe caused the spill and some water flowed off the well pad into a road ditch.
About 650 barrels had been recovered, the department reported. The company told state officials that there weren’t any additives in the water at the time of the leak. A health department inspector was expected to sample the water for verification.
