One of the more melancholy groups included supporters of the Fighting Sioux nickname. Those in favor of keeping the name received a blow when complete but unofficial results indicated that Measure 4, which allows the nickname to be retired, would pass.
Though some nickname supporters have vowed to continue fighting for the use of the nickname, others accept that the state has spoken despite personal feeling toward the Fighting Sioux issue.
"If people want it (the nickname) to go away, it will go away," said Rob Hogue, 24. "If it goes away I won't be happy, but it is what it is."

Others were happy that North Dakota residents voted to keep property taxes by rejecting Measure 2.
"As an EMT, I was worried that Measure 2 would pass," said Junior Chapusette, 24. "We get a lot of our funding through those taxes."
Another issue on the minds of residents was Measure 3, which advocated for more protection for religion from government.
The measure was rejected by voters. Nick Gerves, 21, felt that passing the measure would have ended up costing the state a large sum of money in terms of legal battles.
"The wording of the measure was reckless," he said. "Our legal system thrives on cracks in wording like that."
