FARGO - Fargo-Moorhead tied a daily record for precipitation on Monday, with 2.7 inches of snow yielding 0.25 inch of moisture, the National Weather Service said.
The amount tied the old record set on Jan. 10, 1929.
Meanwhile, forecasters are tracking a storm system expected to move into the area on Friday, with the greatest chance of accumulation during the day Friday, said Pete Rogers, forecaster at the weather service office in Grand Forks.
Rogers said an "extremely rough estimate" is that the area could see 4 to 6 inches of snow.
The storm likely will bring some winds, too, he said.

"It is way too early to determine if that would mean considerable blowing snow or even blizzard conditions," he said.
Light snow will continue today but accumulations should be less than an inch, Rogers said.
"But, you know, the roads will still be slick, so people should take it easy," he said.
