FARGO – A Fargo man died last week from injuries sustained after he jumped onto, then fell off of, a moving car during a domestic dispute three days earlier.

Fargo police responded to a disturbance around 2:20 a.m. on the 400 block of 21st St. S., Lt. Joel Vettel said. There, they found Dvraughn Rutues, 22, laying on the ground but responsive. He died of his injuries in the hospital on March 10, Vettel said.

Vettel said a crowd of witnesses said Rutues had slipped and fallen. But over the course of a three-day investigation, police learned that Rutues was involved in a domestic dispute in which he jumped onto a moving car.

The investigation into what led up to the dispute and how Rutues was injured is ongoing, Vettel said. That investigation has been complicated by witnesses at the scene who lied about the event.

Vettel said he could not comment on the nature of the dispute or who else was involved. Nobody has been charged for Rutues’ death.
