FARGO - A 59-year-old Fargo man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a revoked license after he allegedly crashed a car through the fence of the North Dakota Air National Guard base in Fargo, temporarily sending the base into lockdown, police said.

Larry Harvey was allegedly driving a 1994 Cadillac when it crashed into a tree in the 2300 block of North University Drive, continued through the perimeter fence and struck another tree on base, Fargo Police Sgt. Joe Anderson said.

The car came to rest, and Harvey got out before the car caught fire. He was detained by the 119th Wing Security Forces and turned over to Fargo police, said Anderson, who also is the Security Forces commander.

Harvey was treated and release at Sanford Health and taken to the Cass County Jail.

Anderson said the base was put on lockdown because the initial report referred to three people in the car.

"So, they didn't know if there were other people wandering around base," he said.

Police determined that Harvey was alone in the car, and the other people were witnesses, he said.

Anderson estimated three or four sections of fence will need to be repaired or replaced.
