FARGO - A 21-year-old Fargo man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated domestic violence Sunday after he allegedly broke down the door of a relative's apartment and punched and choked her.

The suspect and his girlfriend were at the relative's apartment in the 1700 block of 40th Street South to pick up clothes. While on their way back to the girlfriend's place, they broke up, Fargo Police Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

The suspect went back to the relative's apartment and became angry with her because she had started drinking. He knocked the drink from her hand with such force it went through the Sheetrock, Lykken said.

The victim told the suspect to leave, and when he finally did, she locked the door. He then allegedly broke the door down and began to beat her.

The suspect was found in the victim's garage and taken to the Cass County Jail, Lykken said.
