USA Hockey announced today that Fargo is one of three finalists for the IIHF World Under-18 hockey tournament.
The other finalists are St. Cloud, Minn., and Providence, R.I.
USA Hockey officials will visit St. Cloud on Wednesday, Fargo on Thursday and Providence on Dec. 11. A decision is expected early next month.
The tournament will be held in April 2009. It will be the first time it has been held in the United States since it originated in 1999.
The Americans have been to the gold-medal game in each of the last four years, winning it in 2005 and 2006.
