EGF church to host seminar for parents, grandparents

"Parents Arise! Grandparents Arise!" a forum for those with influence on youth will be held between worship services from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1515 Fifth Ave. N.W., East Grand Forks.

The presenter will be the Rev. Al Erickson, who is part of a movement to teach adults actions to safeguard their children from "clever seducers in today's society." Erickson, who grew up in Glendive, Mont., has served in Trinity Lutheran Church in Mott, N.D., volunteered on the streets of Hollywood and started the Grassroots Ministry in Minneapolis.

GF church to host men's event

"Stepping Up," a one-day men's event, will be at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1616 S. 17th St., Grand Forks.

Participants will learn to develop a "game plan for living a godly, courageous life."

Coffee and rolls will be served 8: 30 a.m. today. The event starts 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Tickets are $20 at the church. Info: (701) 772-5790.

GF church to hold book discussion

Women of Wesley United Methodist Church will host a book discussion at 2 p.m. March 9 at the church at 1600 Fourth Ave. N., Grand Forks.

Irina Astvatsatarova, a UMC member from Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, N.D., will be sharing her Christian Armenian family's story of exile and immigration to the U.S. from the Soviet Union in the 1980s. The story is told in her daughter Anna Turcotte's book "Nowhere... a Story of Exile." The book is available on Amazon.com.

Rosenbrough to hold seminar in Oslo church

Chris Rosenbrough, host of an online radio ministry, will present a seminar, "How to Not Be Deceived, Bamboozled or Snookered by Religious Hucksters, Snake Oil Conmen or Your Own Idolatrous Notions," March 23 at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, 15950 470th Ave. N.W., rural Oslo, Minn.

He will focus on the importance of sound Biblical teaching in today's church where many popular themes and doctrines have strayed from historic Christianity.

Crookston church holding art sessions

"Healing Through Art" sessions continue 10 a.m. to noon this morning and each Saturday morning through March 23 in First Presbyterian Church, 510 N. Broadway, Crookston.

The program is designed to assist children and adults express themselves in healthy ways, to be "creative problem-solvers" in their lives, and learn to see themselves in uplifting ways. No artistic ability is needed. It's for children in fourth grade and older, with a parent. Cost is a total of $20 for all sessions for adults; children get in free.

Crookston artist's cartoons to be featured in EGF church

A Crookston artist's unusual religious art exhibit, "The Discombobulated Church," will be displayed today through March 31 in Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, 528 10th St. N.W., East Grand Forks. The traveling exhibit, which has been around Minnesota in churches, is designed by Everett to "stimulate deep contemplation and conversation on the current state of the church and some of the ways it can be transformed into a healthy spiritual community."

Park River camp to hold quilt retreat
