The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on a proposed work on the levee in Alvarado, Minn.

The current levee, built in the 1990s, protects Alvarado from flooding of the Snake River.

The Corps late last week released a draft environmental assessment for proposed modifications, including the removal of damaged levee areas, construction of a rock support, realignment of portions of the levee, regrading slopes and reinforcing the river banks to prevent erosion. The improvements are to comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency requirements.

The project is available for public review until March 31. The environmental assessment and additional information can be viewed and downloaded from the Corps' website: www.mvp.usace.army.mil/Missions/CivilWorks/Environment/EnvironmentalAsse... .

Comments may be sent to Megan McGuire at the Corps of Engineers; Megan.K.McGuire@usace.army.mil , or 180 E. Fifth St., Suite 700, St. Paul, MN 55101-1678.
