FARGO - An Emerado man has pleaded guilty in Cass County District Court to a felony charge of luring a minor over a computer.

Steven Arthur Pfeiff, 23, entered the plea today as an Alford plea, meaning he did not take responsibility, but acknowledged a jury could find him guilty based on the evidence.

Court records say Pfeiff had several online chats with a 12-year-old girl who exposed her nude body via a webcam.

Court records also indicate Pfeiff exposed himself to the girl and the two talked on the phone and exchanged text messages.

The case was brought to the attention of the police in August by a parent who discovered Internet chats with her daughter.

A detective began posing as the girl and exchanged text messages with Pfeiff for about two months.

Police arrested Pfeiff in October after he traveled about 90 miles from Emerado to Fargo thinking he was meeting the girl in a Fargo parking, police said.

A presentence investigation has been ordered.

Pfeiff's attorney said he will seek the minimum mandatory sentence of one year.
