Ellen DeGeneres helps share area cross country runners' amazing story

FARGO - The story of a Devils Lake girl who carried an injured competitor on her back in the last moments of a cross country race earlier this month will get another shot of national attention today.

FARGO – The story of a Devils Lake girl who carried an injured competitor on her back in the last moments of a cross country race earlier this month will get another shot of national attention today.

Melanie Bailey carried Fargo South runner Danielle LeNoue to a medical cart at the end of the Eastern Dakota Conference cross country meet Oct. 11 in Glyndon, Minn.

The pair flew out to the Los Angeles area Monday, where they taped a segment Tuesday on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.

The girls’ story had already been picked up by national news outlets, such as ABC News.

The segment is scheduled to appear on “Ellen” today. The one-hour show airs at 3 p.m. on KVLY.
