East Grand Forks may be ready to start looking for a new police chief to replace the retiring Mike Lealos.
At its meeting tonight, the City Council will review a job description for the position to see if any changes need to be made. Once approved, the city could advertise the position, according to Jerry Skyberg, acting city clerk-treasurer.
"I am hoping they say 'yes' to it, 'let's put it out and advertise it,'" Skyberg said.
Lealos was prepared to retire at the end of this month, but he was asked by city leaders to stay on until the end of April.
Lealos has served on the local police force for 30 years.
