EGF CULTURE: Campbell Library to hold Nordic Days this week

East Grand Forks Campbell Library will celebrate Nordic Days through Friday with cultural displays and an art exhibit including a special observation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

East Grand Forks Campbell Library will celebrate Nordic Days through Friday with cultural displays and an art exhibit including a special observation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Visitors during that time can enjoy and learn about Nordic culture through music, food, art and writing, as well as family activities. Supported by Friends of Campbell Library, the event is made possible by a grant from Northwest Regional Arts Council through funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Minnesota Legislature.

Sons of Norway will be in traditional dress to serve treats and to discuss Nordic culture. The organization will provide two short videos on culture and an accordion band.

Carol Nelson will demonstrate tatting and rug-making.

Twenn Bazajou will demonstrate and teach hardanger.

Cathy Forgit will demonstrate textile and fiber arts techniques.

Eileen Wurden will demonstrate and exhibit rosemaling techniques.

Marian Gates will demonstrate and teach Swedish weaving techniques and will have a take home project for patrons who wish to try this technique.

Lyndon Johnson will play mandolin, singing Swedish folk songs. He will discuss Swedish music.

Faythe Thureen will read and discuss her children's book, "Troll Meets Trickster on the Dakota Prairie."
