A 22-year-old North Dakota man is dead after jumping off a Highway 71 bridge in Sioux Narrows, Ont.
The body of Gerald "Jerry" Jonasson, of Edinburg, N.D., was discovered by police Sunday. It was determined through investigation the death was accidental.
A search for Jonasson was conducted by the Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls Fire Department, assisted by local residents. The OPP underwater Search and Rescue unit, along with the Kenora marine unit, were called to the scene and retrieved the body.
Police said, in addition to being dangerous, it is an offense to jump off any bridge into a navigable waterway.
