The city of East Grand Forks is seeking photographs of former mayors to be used for its 125th celebration in August of 2012.
The city has photographs of mayors since 1963, dating back to Louis Murray. But other images were wiped out by the 1997 flood.
The photographs will be converted into painted portraits that will be on display in City Hall, according to city official Jim Richter. Portraits are preferred because photographs deteriorate over the years, Richter said.
East Grand Forks has had 26 mayors. The high number is because mayors had one-year terms in the city's early years, then two-year terms until switching to four years in 1987.
Richter can be reached at 773-2371.
