An East Grand Forks man was injured Tuesday when his vehicle left Interstate 94 near Fergus Falls, Minn., and ended up in the Pelican River.

Said Sharmarke, 41, was driving a 2001 Honda Odyssey minivan westbound on I-94 shortly after 6 p.m. when the crash occurred near the U.S. Highway 59 interchange, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

Sharmarke was transported to Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.

Sharmarke, who was alone in the vehicle, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. No alcohol was detected, according to the report.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
