Police arrested an East Grand Forks man for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident Monday after he drove onto a lawn in north Grand Forks and then back onto the roadway.

According to a police report, Andy Flores, 18, drove over the curb at the 5400 block of West Lanark Drive at around 11:15 p.m. before returning to the roadway, in the process damaging the front end of the car he was driving.

The owner of the property heard a crash before looking out his window to see a dark green 1993 Ford Escort driving through his lawn and back onto the road. He followed the vehicle to an apartment building in 500 block of North 47th Street before calling police.

Police saw the Escort with a chunk of the bumper and the driver's side headlight missing.

They later encountered Flores and his alleged passenger, 23-year-old Cody Goulet, who was arrested for giving false information and public consumption. Police found a bottle of Phillips vodka in Goulet's coat sleeve.
