Minnkota gets new logo
Minnkota Power Cooperative has changed its 20-year-old logo ahead of moving into a new headquarters in south Grand Forks.
The logo for the electric generation and transmission cooperative will go on a 250,000-square-foot headquarters that is being built near the intersection of Interstate 29 and 32nd Avenue South.
"Most companies have a lifespan of 20 years for their logos," said Minnkota Internal Communications Supervisor Kevin Fee. "We also needed new signage for the building, so we figured this was a good time to do it."
The new logo makes Minnkota Power one font-the previous one italicized Minnkota-and adds a square-like illustration with white negative space to symbolize transmission lines. Among other changes, the words "Your Touchstone Energy Partner" will be replaced with "A Touchstone Energy Cooperative," but the colored silhouettes of three people holding hands will remain.
The signage should appear this summer on the headquarters, but the roughly 220 employees who work at the current headquarters at 1822 Mill Rd. won't move until Nov. 1. The Mill Road headquarters is for sale for $7.9 million.
