Just when you thought East Grand Forks' "half-street" issue might be over, it isn't.

In a work session Tuesday, the City Council addressed whether to agree to terms with Huntsville Township over the paving of 14th Avenue Southeast, which is also known as Hartsville Road.

The discussion bogged down when Mayor Lynn Stauss suggested either thicker concrete or a ban on truck traffic on the avenue. Hartsville Township also made a slight change in the agreement. The issue was moved to the April 3 council meeting without a consensus.

"Half-streets" are on the city's fringe, where one lane is in the city limits and the other is outside of it. The tentative agreement called for the entire street to be paved, with the township paying for its share at a discounted rate.

In other matters, council members agreed to keep polling places the same. The city earlier had proposed to move Ward 2's poll, but reconsidered. Ward 2 will continue to vote at City Hall.
