The girls’ locker room at the Civic Center in East Grand Forks will be expanded and rebuilt where the lower-level concession stand is currently located.
“There’s been a push for the past 12 years or more to try to find a spot for the girls in the Civic Center,” said City Council member Chad Grassel. “I’m personally attached to it due to the fact that I was the (East Grand Forks) girl’s hockey coach for some time.”
Drawings of the proposed locker room, which were rendered by EAPC, have been approved by City Council. They will be put out for bidding in December. Construction should begin in April 2015, once hockey season is over.
The plans include building a larger girls locker room, coach’s office and men’s and women’s restrooms where the Civic Center’s current lower-level concession stand is, as well as expanding the upper-level concession stand and building a new warm viewing area.

A new auxiliary concession stand will also be built where the current trophy case is located, near the entrance.
