DULUTH -- A 27-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday at a Duluth hospital after being shot in the chest in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Duluth police reported that officers were called to a residence in the 2200 block of West Second Street at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday. They found the victim with a single, life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest.

An initial investigation revealed that a resident of the home had hosted a gathering early Saturday. After the victim -- who was not a resident of the home -- was shot, the suspects fled the area. Police were searching for multiple suspects.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be random.

The victim, who had not yet been identified, was transported to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center and was reported to be in critical but stable condition.
