The driver was killed Wednesday after a car went off a Clearwater County road and started on fire, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

A patrol dispatcher said the incident happened about 8 a.m. The driver was eastbound on state Highway 92 about one mile west of Clearbrook, Minn., when the 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora went off the left side of the road, hit the ditch and started on fire.

A dispatcher with the Clearwater County Sheriff's office, which also responded, said the accident was reported at 8:20 a.m. The crash is still under investigation, and authorities haven't identified the name or residence of the victim.
