The city of Drayton, N.D., will receive $250,000 in federal funding to help replace its wastewater treatment plant.

It is one of two projects announced today by Sen. Byron Dorgan, who chairs the Senate Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee. The other funding is $300,000 for to repair a leaking wastewater lagoon in Beulah, in western North Dakota.

The Drayton water treatment facility has been compromised by persistent Red River flooding.

"Fixing these compromised wastewater treatment facilities is critical to the health of Beulah and Drayton communities, and I'm pleased that the lagoon projects will get a jump-start from funding through my committee," Dorgan said. "Improving these facilities is an important infrastructure investment that will benefit community members for years to come."

As Chairman of Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, Dorgan developed his environmental infrastructure program through the Army Corps of Engineers to help address water supply, wastewater treatment and emergency infrastructure projects.
